Union County, Ohio. Union County was formed on April 1, 1820 from the parts of four counties combined with a piece of the old Indian Territory. The county was erected largely due to the efforts of Colonel James Curry, a member of the state legislature. Through his efforts an act was passed January 10, 1820 entitled, "An Act to Erect the County of Union." This act outlined the formation of the county and the guidelines that were to be followed.
