Greene County, Ohio. With a population of over 150,000 people, Greene County is the home to one of the largest Air force bases in the country, Wright Patterson Air force Base. Greene County is also home to 5 Colleges, such as Wright State, 7 school districts, 9 private schools, and over 15 annual festivals.
Established in 1803, Greene County was named after General Nathaniel Greene, hero of the Revolutionary War. The first business ran out of a log cabin on the banks of Beaver Creek. The first court house was built in 1809. The county seat was established as Xenia, derived from the Greek to mean hospitality, in 1804, and still holds the seat today.
Home to at least 9 parks, 2 recreation areas, a wildlife center, and plenty of eateries and shopping centers, Greene County has a little bit of everything for the big city person and the family seeking the small town life.
