London, Ohio. When the organization of Madison County took place on March 1, 1810, there was no city that was suitable to be selected as the county seat. The General Assembly appointed a commission to choose a site for the seat of justice. They choose a 200 acre tract of land in Union Township belonging to a John Murfin. Lots were laid for a new town which the commissioners called London. For the past 190 years London has served as the community hub for Madison County and continues to grow in a planned and directed manner. The 2000 U.S. census has the official population of London at 8,771.

London offers a fair brand of justice that the area can be proud of. Other high points of pride and interest are the local area schools, which are educational points to many in the county, the parks and recreation department, which provide enjoyment and entertainment to many that seek out their services and programs, or just visit the beauty and simplicity that is available in their parks. There are numerous churches and community events that are worth the visit as well. London is a well rounded community, which is an excellent asset to the county, as well as the state of Ohio.
