Linden, Ohio. The neighborhood of Linden has a history that dates back to 1800 when land was allocated in the area where Linden is now located, by President John Adams. The land was given to a man named George Stevenson. Mr. Stevenson acquired 4,000 acres. The land was given because Stevenson, a doctor, had served in the Revolutionary War.
Upon Mr. Stevenson's death his heirs received the land and it was split up amongst them. The area that is now Linden soon became the home of several prospering farms. It was Frederick Weber who purchased Linden's land. He originally started with 5 acres, and it soon expanded into 310 acres where he ran a successful farm. The Innis family, and Henry Huy also owned several acres in the mid 1800's on Linden land.
The land Mr. Huy owned eventually became the Linden Airport. In the late 1800's a streetcar connecting Columbus to Westerville passed through Linden and the residential development began. A subdivision was built in 1893, the residents soon decided a whole neighborhood, Linden Village, should be established, and as they say, the rest is history.
Linden is now one of the most family oriented, prosperous neighborhoods in Linden. With a rich, vibrant history, the community council of Linden is working to preserve the historic value of the neighborhood.
