Delaware, Ohio. Delaware is the county seat of Delaware County. It is a bustling city filled with excitement, especially for the annual Little Brown Jug race, at the Delaware County fairgrounds.

Every year thousands of racing fans pack the stands at the race track hoping to get a glimpse of the best horses and making their bets on whom will win the race. With the Little Brown Jug, race fans have their first glimpse at the beautiful thoroughbred horses of the season, and also get their first impression of which horse will ultimately go on to win the triple crown.

The Little Brown Jug is certainly the highlight of the year for residents and outsiders alike. The purse is usually over $500,000 dollars. In the mid-1990's spectators in numbers higher than any racing event of that year, brought the purse up to a whopping 1.8 million dollars.

The land is rich in Delaware. You will find many farms. The majority of these farms have horses, and it is not uncommon to see people riding around through pastures, over the graceful rolling hills that make the area unique, in a relatively flat state, otherwise.

Delaware also has some very old Victorian style homes that are beautiful to view. The population of Delaware is large enough to ensure that there are plenty of shopping facilities, restaurants and other forms of entertainment for individuals of all ages.

Delaware has also been home to several important political figures. In 1822, former president Rutherford B. Hayes made his first appearance, with his birth, in this beautiful city.

With close to 37,000 residents, Delaware is quite a popular area to live in. You wouldn't even really need to go to a large city.

However, if you wanted to Columbus is 45 minutes to an hour away, an easy drive for anyone!.
