The Buggyworks Loft Development Corporation announced the availability of 68 authentic urban loft condominiums in the newly developed Nationwide area. The historic building was once home to the Columbus Buggy Works, at that time, acknowledged as the world's largest manufacturer of horse-drawn buggies.
In recent years the building, located at 440 West Nationwide Boulevard, has worn many faces: a vibrant location for creative service companies, artists studios and a radio station. The desirability of the address and the interest in downtown living spaces prompted developer, Kyle Katz to pursue a revitalization of the structure by converting it to a mixed-use building.
The demand for authentic urban lofts was the catalyst for the redevelopment of The Buggyworks. Raw open space, exposed brick walls, exposed timber and beam ceilings, substantial ceiling height and abundant natural light accessed through large, industrial-sized windows characterize each customized loft. Lofts will range from $160's - $600's.
There is only one Buggyworks, and the development team recognized how special and rare, this opportunity is. It was imperative that they do more than simply hire a team of qualified companies to develop this property. "We engaged qualified firms that recognized The Buggyworks as a unique and special opportunity."
Steve Stabile of Genesis Audio was asked to be involved and bring his experience to this project. Steve used his years of custom audio and video experience to develop a package that would serve potential tenants. He developed a complete entertainment solution that would complement the unique and demanding interior architecture of the downtown lofts.
The installation features plasma televisions from the Director Series by Hitachi. These plasma's are state of the art and provide unparalleled picture performance in a slim and attractive platinum frame. For in-wall speakers, Steve has specified the Veritas by Energy. These in-wall speakers should be considered "in-visible". The driver technology is derived from the award winning Energy Veritas speaker line.
Katz, along with LaSalle Bank and the Columbus Downtown Development Corporation partnered to shoulder the costs assuring the highest quality of renovation throughout. Their investment is substantial, with estimated costs of the project at $14,000,000. This unique conversion to a vital mixed-use property incorporates 120,000 square feet in a first phase that includes: 63 residential condominium lofts, covered parking, storage and 5 live/work units on Firestone alley, the project's Soho-inspired streetscape.
The Buggyworks creates a sense of community where residents can walk to surrounding amenities: parks, movies, concerts, festivals, sporting events, the North Market and a diverse range of bars and restaurants
